Suzanne Bowden (MSc) is a Chartered Psychologist, Consultant Forensic Psychologist, Registered Psychologist and Chartered Scientist. She is an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society, and is a registered practitioner with the Health and Care Professions Council.
She has worked in a range of settings with a diverse client group, initially in residential care with children and adolescents with developmental disorders, challenging behaviour, and learning difficulties, and for twelve years within secure forensic settings. This included HM Prison Service, and both medium and low secure mental health services.
Suzanne has directed and undertaken the provision of psychological assessment, treatment and consultancy in her capacity as ward lead for a medium secure young adults’ service, and then as Lead of Psychological Services within a low secure hospital. In this latter role she was also responsible for the operational and clinical management of psychological services. She has developed, delivered, and supervised therapeutic interventions and was the treatment lead for sexual offending/sexually problematic behaviour interventions as well as the management of aggression.
For the last five years she has been employed by CCATS. Within her role, she is Clinical Lead and Consultant to Harmful Sexual Behaviour Services and specialist therapeutic residential services. She undertakes various work at CCATS, including assessment, intervention, training and consultancy.
Suzanne regularly undertakes Expert Witness Reports for both Family and Criminal Court, and also completes personal injury work. She has particular interest and experience in harmful sexual behaviour, cognitive functioning, risk assessment and risk management, mental health and well-being, and the assessment and treatment of trauma, being an EMDR practitioner. She has also presented in national and international arenas.
